Practical Planning Project Final Presentation on Land Subdivision and Service Delivery
On Wednesday, June 17, 2026 the closing event for the first-stage Practical Planning Project of the Spatial Planning Department, titled “The Impact of Land Subdivision on Service Delivery: A Case Study of Nizarke and Zirka Neighbourhoods.” was concluded.
The comprehensive research project was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Brjin Safar Mohammed, Ms. Layla Ahmed Qasim, and Dr. Pires Husamuldeen Abdullah.
Throughout the project period, student research cohorts conducted spatial evaluations and fieldwork within the Nizarke and Zirka neighborhoods. During their final defenses, the student groups presented empirical findings detailing how structural land subdivision patterns directly influence the spatial distribution, capacity, and equity of basic infrastructure and municipal service delivery.
We were also honored to welcome two distinguished expert evaluators from the Directorate of Urban Planning in Duhok Governorate: Mr. Zana Nori Ahmad and Ms. Bafreen Salman Mohammad, who have been with the students since the beginning of the project, giving invaluable aid and expert assistance to their knowledge. Their presence helped students align their academic models with current administrative regulations and urban governance realities in Kurdistan.
We would like to express our congratulations to the dedication of the students and the unwavering mentorship provided by their supervisors.
