In the first week of the program, between the 15th and 22nd of August, 2026, the Department of Spatial Planning continued its annual Summer School in Germany Program.

The 6th semester students, accompanied by Dr. Regzar Mostafa Mohammed, the Head of the Department, and Dr. Johannes Lückenkötter, Program coordinator from TU Dortmund University.

The first week of the Summer School in Germany has been an inspiring and valuable experience for the students of the Department of Spatial Planning, University of Duhok.
During their time in Frankfurt, the students visited several places and engaged with planning professionals and local experts, connecting what they learn in the classroom with real-world planning practices and challenges.

The visits explored important topics including community housing, regional planning, urban development, data centres and AI infrastructure, urban greening, and the planning of new large-scale settlements.
Beyond visiting places, the students were encouraged to observe, ask questions, discuss, and reflect—making this a valuable opportunity to learn from the experience of planning in Germany.
