City Planning
The undergraduate program in City Planning is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge essential for addressing contemporary urban challenges, particularly through the lenses of resilience and sustainability. Given that Iraq, including the Kurdistan region, is projected to be the fifth most affected country by climate change—with a low readiness level of only 21% and a high vulnerability to disasters—it is crucial for future urban planners to be prepared.
In 2022, the college was renamed into the College of City and Regional Planning. This was also accompanied by the establishment of a new department named the Department of City Planning which started the first year of study in the 2023-2024 academic year.
