On December 2, 2025, the College of City and Regional Planning at the University of Duhok hosted a seminar titled “Sorting at the Source of Residential Solid Waste in Duhok Governorate.” The session was presented by Mr. Diyar Sadeq, Head of the Environmental Department at the Directorate of Municipalities in Duhok.

The seminar examined sustainable waste management practices, emphasizing community-level source separation as a critical mechanism to reduce landfill dependency and improve environmental health across the governorate.

• Municipal Infrastructure & Logistics: Evaluating collection workflows, recycling pathways, and municipal capacity across Duhok Governorate.
