On Thursday, June 18, 2026, the Second Stage Spatial Planning students presented their final projects for the Landscape Planning course, under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Alaulddin Mohammed Aqiqi and Ms. Hozan Fawzi, using Gelî Kortkê as their study area.

The project adopted the German Landscape Planning System and applied its principles to the local context of Gali Kortke, demonstrating how international planning approaches can be adapted to local environmental and spatial planning challenges.

Throughout the semester, students worked on different stages of the planning process, including:
• Developing a landscape program and environmental policy framework.
• Preparing a landscape framework plan using GIS spatial analysis and weighted overlay modeling.
• Designing a landscape plan by identifying communities, parks, trails, cultural and historical assets, and connecting them through network analysis.
• Proposing an open space plan through detailed mapping of built and non-built areas and recommending future recreational spaces.

We were honored to welcome Mr. Awar Naman Saleem from the Department of Architectural Engineering as a guest evaluator. His expertise in Landscape Architecture provided valuable insights and constructive feedback during the presentations.
