College of City and Regional Planning Participates in MEETS 2026
Between July 30 to August 2, 2026, in the capital city of Erbil, and in the presence of Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok and Dean of the College and Dr. Nashwan Shawkat Mahmood dean of the College of Engineering, the College of City and Regional Planning proudly participated in the 5th Middle East Education, Technology & Students (MEETS 2026) Exhibition, held in Erbil from July 30 to August 2, 2026.
During the exhibition, the University of Duhok delegation—comprising of Ms. Lava Nashwan Ramzi from the College of City and Regional Planning, Dr. Soleen Jaladet Mohammed Saleh, and Dr. Dilsher Idrees Mustafa from the College of Engineering, and Mr. Hussein Ismael Titmy from the Media Directorate—showcased the academic and scientific capabilities of the University of Duhok to attendees. They also worked on building bridges of cooperation with other universities and educational institutions.
Throughout the four days, the Department of Spatial Planning’s vision and contributions in shaping sustainable cities and regions were showcased. Having a unique Joint BSc Degree program with TU Dortmund, the Department offers a unique experience in Germany for students through its collaboration with German professors and the Summer School Program in Germany.
The team engaged with high school graduates, universities, organizations, stakeholders, and environmental advocacy agencies, answering questions, presenting research, and highlighting the importance of spatial planning in addressing today’s urban challenges.
From urban design and land management to transportation, sustainability, and community development, the booth reflected the diverse expertise of our college and students. The exhibition also provided an excellent opportunity to build new academic collaborations and strengthen ties with institutions and stakeholders across the region.
The college is proud to see the Department of Spatial Planning representing the University of Duhok as a hub for knowledge, innovation, and sustainable development.
