On June 23, 2026, the Council of the College of City and Regional Planning at the University of Duhok (UOD) held a pivotal meeting presided over by the President of UOD and Acting Dean, Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi. The meeting was attended by the Vice Dean, Mr. Samir Hashim Muhyadeen, the Head of the Department of Spatial Planning, Dr. Rezgar Mostafa Mohammed, the Head of the Department of City Planning, Dr. Shareen Younus Ismael, and the Academic Staff Representative, Dr. Pires Husamuldeen Abdullah.

​The council engaged in extensive discussions focused on 

• Modifying and modernizing the current spatial planning program. 
• Initiatives were evaluated to attract a higher volume of students
• The structural development of the Summer School program. 
• Plans for the SPRING Master's program with TU Dortmund University, highlighting ongoing institutional coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to formally authorize and accept the SPRING enrollment for upcoming student batches.
