TAZIZ Programme DAAD (2023-2025): Power Relation in local Urban Governance: participation in Public Spaces - A Seminar by Dr. Layla Raswol

On 22.10.2024 the dean of the college of City and Regional Planning, Dr. Layla Raswol, held a seminar about the DAAD world wide Ta’ziz Network project (Power Relations in Urban Governance managed by Technische Universität Berlin Habitat unit in collaboration with our college and other MENA region universities. The program connects universities and non academia from Tunisia, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt and Germany to explore the issues of public spaces and participation.

Within the project, as part of the expert team, Dr. Layla Raswol supervised a group of international students to investigate green public space in partner countries. The students task is to analyze the challenges of local governance of the public spaces and proposing urban design strategies to enhance the public space to be inclusive and connected.

It is worth mentioning that the next workshop will be hosted at the university of Duhok next Semester. The partner Experts from partner universities:

-Technische university Berlin,

-German Jordanian University,

-Cartage University/ ISTEUB, Tunis

-Lebanon University Beirut and other related NGOs from Germany and partner countries will participate to supervise visiting Master students from Germany and UoD BSc students from the college of city and Regional Planning to propose sustainable urban design strategies for the public space in Duhok.
