On Thursday, September 3, 2026, Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi (University President and Acting Dean of the college) conducted a meeting for the start of the new academic year, with the presence of the College Council (The Vice Dean, Heads of Departments and the Staff Representative) and academic staff from both departments to welcome the new academic year and express appreciation for the faculty's efforts over the past year.
Across the meeting, the following was discussed:

• Emphasis on joint efforts between both departments to drive the scientific and academic advancement of the college.
  • Reinforced commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership with TU Dortmund University.
  • Focus to be done on defining clear research areas and establishing key research lines for both departments.
  • Highlight was made for the urgent necessity and priority of the updates made to the Spatial Planning curriculum.
  • Acknowledgements and appreciation towards the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Affairs approval to run the SPRING Master's program annually with Duhok as an active partner.
  • Reviews and finalized operational preparations to be done by staff members for the upcoming academic year.
